Slow Foods Jamaica

At SeaSand Eco Villas

In May 2009 this year we held our very first Slow Foods Jamaica meeting on the site of SeaSand Eco Villas. Our small but hard working group set in motion the documentation for filing with Slow Foods International as a Conviction and did our first event.

Our Sunday Mango demonstration and sampling station was a delight for all those who attended and walked by on the beach that day. We had many native Jamaican mango's displayed with signage and sampled mango juice, fresh mangoes as well as dried mangoes which were all delicious.

We look forward to working on our next Slow Foods Jamaica event and am pleased to say we are now an official Convivium. We hope to gather more members into our group to continue the focus on local and sustainable food sources on our beautiful Island of Jamaica.
